What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a completely natural state where the mind is deeply focussed, while also deeply relaxed.  Have you ever driven a familiar route and not remembered the journey?  Been completely immersed in reading a book, watching a film or television programme, causing you to be unaware of what is going on around you?  If you have, then you have already experienced the state of being in hypnosis.

While in the wonderfully relaxed state of hypnosis, any suggestion that you could be made to cluck like a chicken simply isn’t true, so please rest assured that it is not possible to control anyone or make them do anything against their will or moral code.

Hypnotherapy combines hypnosis and therapy together to bypass the conscious mind, in order to work directly with the amazing power of the subconscious mind.  This enables the hypnotherapist to work with you to bring about the positive change you would like to achieve, to feel calmer and less anxious, to overcome phobias and fears, to increase your confidence or to improve your overall wellbeing.

In addition to hypnotherapy, I am also an advanced EFT practitioner:

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), commonly known as tapping, is a self-help technique that combines elements of traditional Chinese acupressure and modern psychology.  It involves tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points on the body (mainly on the face and upper body) while focusing on a specific issue, such as stress, anxiety, cravings, phobias or pain.  Energy is believed to flow through the body’s meridian points, by tapping on them any blockages are released and no longer cause negative emotion, pain or stress.  EFT aims to restore balance to both the body and mind.

EFT tapping is often used as a complementary therapy and has gained popularity for its simplicity and effectiveness. Some studies suggest that tapping can help regulate the nervous system and reduce cortisol (the stress hormone).
